Upgrading

I've been running 2 24 gallaon aquapods with the MH fixture and have had a lot of luck with SPS, rics, zoos, etc. Now I'm ready to upgrade, but nothing too big, maybe a 75 or 90. I currently don't run a skimmer or a sump on my 24s. My question is do i really need to run a skimmer and a sump on a 75 or 90. Will a weekely 10% water change accomplish the same things? I'd realy like to not run a sump so that I can put this in our main living area on a regular peice of furniture. That is my second question, what is the largest tank you can put ona a standard peice of furniture like a dresser? I'm trying to balance my desire for a larger tank with my wife's for a matching actractively decorated living room.
thanks in advance

If you take your time you can find a nice matching tank stand. The skimmer will reduce the needed maintenance yet if you are happy with the way you have been doing things and are having good results then it is just a preference thing. You don’t need a skimmer if you are keeping the protean waste under control with water changes.
