Urchins

I have a Pencil Sea Urchin. I think that he is really cool but, he eats my coraline algee on my live rock. My question is: Will the coraline that he eats grow back or is it a good idea to get rid of him? <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

It's probably not a good idea to keep him. They have big appetites and I know that lfs use them sometimes to clean algae from their tanks. If he came in on a peice of lr you could probably trade him in to your lfs. Or if you really want to keep him put him in a speices tank. They are definitely a cool to watch.

urchins are very cool and wonderful to watch in the tank but they will remove all your coraline algae. coraline will grow back due to the spores throughout your tank but if you want coraline you may have to get rid of the urchin. sorry
