Any changes to the system? Do you have a voltmeter to read any current that is in the tank? Go ahead and disconnect your heater immediately until you can get a voltmeter reading.

If electricity is flowing through the tank, you'll need to find the source of the current. Use a voltmeter and unplug each piece of equipment to find the culprit. You can temporarily use an unraveled cloths hanger to put one end in the tank and one end into a grounded socket, or a screw on the front plate of your grounded power outlet box. It may temporarily relieve some stress.
We need your water parameters, lighting, etc. etc. Find out if anything has died, and test for ammonia immediately.

thanks for the quick reply
Don't have a heater. We have 2 damsil fish that have been with the fox face since we started - they get along very well.
Sunshine (fox faxed) is very dark and spotted as if he were stressed but he was fine an hours ago and swimming around and seemed very happy
Salt is 35
Gravity 1.026
Test strip shows everything is in normal range
He seems to be upright now, still breathing a little hard and staying next to the power head with air pump (running) We have fluval 305 filtration system and protien skimmer

I hope I'm not pestering you. I have a 5 year old boy waiting to see if his fish is going to be ok.
Just wanted any thoughts or suggestions you might have?
The 2 damsil fish are fine - acting as crazy as they normally do. Sunshine has been upright for about an hour now. heis still spotted as he is at night, but I'm VERY concerned about he rapid breathing - seems to still be breating hard.

Do you have anything better then test strips? like a liquid master test kit?
Maybe you should get a heater, since it's going into the winter months.
What are you feeding?
Did anyone disturb him?
When they get stressed, they change colors... Watch him close for a little while.

Oh, and you aren't bothering me at all. I enjoy helping people as much as I can.
I have another question for you - I'm fixing to be a father myself - and I was wondering, wouldn't it be better to explain death in terms of a fish, rather than grandma? I think I was taught what death was with a fish, when I was a kid. Your thoughts?

We have just really started our tank. We got Sunshine, Lucy, and Manny that same day - threw them in together and they have done great - add another fish or starfish, or .........anything, and that thing is dead before sundownl
Sunshine is still his spotted color, but doesn't seem to be so spotted and black. he's just at the bottom since we hae the lightout - .....................should we turn the light on?
When are 1st fish died (attached by our damsil fish). I simply explained we flushed the fish to heaven and go had thim in a fishbowl where Gamma and Papaw could watch the hapy fish.
