using dead rock that used to live for base

Hi, I am new to saltwater, again...and I was wondering if I could use rock that I have had stored that used to be live about 6 years ago, and if yes do I have to do anything to it first:help:

Yes you can... I would give it a good bath and then allow for a good cycle. I would also get some LR to seed the base rock.

i am also new to this messaging stuf:confused: so it may take a while. I do have live rock in there now...tanks been set up about 3 weeks. i have an eco-system underneath...have you ever heard of it? it seems to work very well...i also have a few fish...all seem happy...eventually i am going to add coral...i have a reputable dealer in town, but very expensive...i have ordered more live rock from swf.com...from what i am reading they seem to be very reasonable. any suggestions?

Sense your tank is well into the cycle and you already have fish in there... I would cure the base rock in a separate container, let it cycle completely and then add it to your system.
