Using Softened Well Water

I know guys that have tank care companies for offices, etc. They usually use the customers water and have only 1 complaint about softened well water. It doesnt hold ph very well.

I have the same problem with my softened well water. I have a tough time keeping the PH up. Other than that, it is fine, but I am also running it through an RO/DI as well. My well water has a TDS of about 165.

Yes I agree. I use private well water myself, but it is hard water. I have had no problems, and I am doing hypo right now. No ph issues at all EVER.

I use city water that my system softens then it goes through the RO/DI. I have no PH problem from the most part. PH is on the low side of pristine.

Yeah for salt I'd rather have the straight well water, unless theres something bad in it. Sometimes its hard to bypass the softener or where you can you get sediment or whatever.

I wouldn't use well water for nothing. Diatome problems galore, unstable PH, the list goes on.
I live on an acreage and just get RO water from the local WalMart for 35¢ per gallon at the Culligan self-serve water station in the store.

Not to knock Ro/Di water, but my ph never fluctuates. I am in the middle of hypo right now, no ph issues, I have used Stop Parasites med which is known to cause a ph drop if your alk isn't high. Again no ph fluctuations. I had a diatom bloom when my tank was first set up which lasted about 3 weeks to a month. Nothing since.
