UV bucket filter ok in marine aquarium?

is it alright to use UV bucket filters in marine tanks? both fish only or reef? any pros n cons? thanks.

I am not a fan of UV filters on display tanks. I do believe they have their uses like on QT and holding tanks at the LFS. UV filters kill indescriminently so they will kill the good organisms along with the bad, and most of the bad things they kill can be prevented from entering the DT by good quarentining practices.
