I have a 22 gallon reef tank and one of my clown fish had some kind of fungus on it and about 2 days later it got ich that has spread to my other clown fish. I went to the my local pet shop today and the guy said i should buy a UV Sterilizer and freshwater dip the clown fish. He said the UV Sterilizer will help prevent parasites in my tank and decrease the alge growth. Will this UV Sterilizer help and help me with my ich and fungus problem because they want $150 for it? Thanks

Ask two people about a UV sterilizer and you'll find one person who thinks they are great, and one person who thinks they aren't worth anything.
Personally, I have four tanks. Two have them, two don't, and the two tanks that don't have them I am always dealing with disease outbreaks. The two tanks that do have them have never suffered a disease problem.
Now just wait for the responses from the people who say they are junk. I don't know who is right. It could very well be a coincidence for me.

I have had a 55g FOWLR for about 4 yrs. The first year I had my tank I had a lot of fish loss. Then I purchased a UV Sterilizer and have been running it ever since. I have noticed that I have much better luck with the UV Sterilizer than without it.
I would recommend it to all my friends if they do not QT fish.

I don't think its coincidence, you may well have proven the nay sayers wrong with that info. I have a reef(which alot will say not to run on), but use it once a month for a week at a time to control bad things and haven't had any diease outbreaks since I started.

I have a UV, I think they are great, I have had fish die but it was because I didn't know they were sick when they actually were (uneducated). Mine has worked wonders. My tang which I got from the LFS had a little bit of ich, but i took the chance, a day after being in the tank it was sterile. I would definately get one, well worth the money.

Are they ok to run all the time on reef tanks? How come some people say that they arent good to run all the time on reef tanks

Well the reason is they kill good bacteria, along w/ the bad that pass through the UV. Same as carbon, it removes bad toxins, but also removes the good trace elements needed in the reef.
