UV Sterilizer

i don;t like them at all, there is bacteria in your tank that you want, this is what breaks down your ammonia and nitrates and nitrites, and uv filters kill anything that small, not jsut the things you want them too, and in addition to that, they DO NOT help with ick as much as some previously believed and THEY DEFINITELY ARE NOT a cure all for ick, but they will help with some disease(i guess)
that said, i will not personally use one

enjoy, it isn't often that will happen with this hobby, saving 200 is not an everyday occurance, that is for sure

I've had mine on my tank for a month and it got rid of my ich problem in a week.I have a 46 bow front with 50 lbs of live rock and three anemones, they are all doing great. (25 watt uv. on a 465ghp pump)

I've been runnning one on my FO tank for about 8 months now and since adding it have not been losing fish on a regular basis. Prior to adding the UV it seemed as if any fish placed in the tank had a 6 week life expectancy. If two fish were put in together on the same day at the beginning of the sixth week one would die and the other a day or two later with no additions to the tank and all water levels in line. Since adding the UV no more six week life expectancy and water levels seem unaffected. Good luck.

I just put a "double-helix" 9 watt on my 75 gallon. It is hooked up to a 200GPH pump, and it has helped to almost completely clear up an algae problem in less than 1 week. It wasn't the sole fix, but it did help to kill off free-floating algae spores, etc. My corals were being overtaken, and now they are the best that they have looked for months. I may get a point where I shut it off and only use it from time to time, but for right now I like it. It was only $125 including the pump from my LFS.
