IMO a uv is bad for a reef. It will help with parasites and bacterial infections but it will also limit your copepod population which are food for fish and crabs. It will help with algea problems however I am not to sure about coraline algea growth. This is a good algea to have in a tank. It is the cement of the sea. As far as growing coraline. It depends alot on calicium and alkalinty of your tank. I have had better results growing coraline with Kalkwasser than with my Calcium Reactor. Sounds backwards dont it? Maybe due to diffrent elements.
