are they needed/recommended i have a 125 gl tank fishand live rock may add some coral later have 60lb live rock, fish-
sturgeon tang, scopa tang, green cromis,decorated gobie, copperline butterfly,

They are a personal preference. I say not worth the money, because they only kill what goes through it, but not all water passes through it so it is not 100% affective. Better bang for your buck is to a QT, if you quarantine everything wet, then there is no need for UV on your system.

Agree.....but UV do have a purpose depending what your intentions are.......
