UV Sterilizers - The Considerations

I was looking into UV sterilizers for my 75 FOWLR. I was wondering what types are recommended and how I what type of wattage I would want. Could I have an UV rated for 180 on my 75 when I upgrade tanks? Thanks! :D

Irenicus, if you are considering a UV for a strictly FO tank, that will be fine. But if you have LR or reef, better to do without it. UV can kill off some undesiable microbes, but the UV does not distinguish between "good and bad". Thus, if you want to cultivate all sorts of microrganisms in the FOWLR / reefs systems, you many not a UV.
Just something to consider.

What would do the greatest good, the microbes or UV... I have mainly aggressive fish that do not desire copopods etc. Please Advise :)

For a fish only, especially an aggressive aquarium. Assuming you're talking about some heavy bio-load fish such as triggers, groupers, sharks, etc. I'd definately, am planning, on using a uv sterilizer.
The recommended wattage varies between manufacturers. I have heard nothing but good news on the "aqua uv sterilizer with wiper", I used a "double helix" before I went to reefs.

Wow, I think my room mate uses that one on a 180! I think all I had was the 9 watt on a 90g. I take it you don't have any algae problems ;)
