uv sterilizers

I have a 80 gallon tank with a wet & dry filter. I recently ordered a 15 Watts uv. The problem I have is a lot of disease in my tank very often. It went from ick, to white velvet, to dead fish. After a while ,all seemed ok and now it has ick again. Do you think that uv is enough for my tank to keep al diseases out of it?. It is a fish only tank.

A UV will not keep disease out of the tank.You see,it can only kill what actually passes through it.So as long as you fish themselves are diseased,you will have a diseased tank.Plus everytime you add a new fish,you are also taking a chance(still) of introducing disease.They(UV's)Do however greatly reduce the probability of your tank becoming reinfected once all your fish are well....
