can any tell me about uv stilizers

Uv steralizers(sP) are good for killing any free floating organizims in your water for example saltwater ick. They also are good for reducing the amount of alge in your tank. This is what I have been told and read about them. I have one and since I have been running it I have noticed a big decline in the alge i get in my tank.
