The UV will help in the free swimming stage of ich, but really doesn't do much good for ich infestations. A skunk cleaner shrimp, if it can survive the type of fish you have, will pick off the parasite from the fishes gills and fins.
I gave my fish some garlic juice lased raw shrimp, and upped the temp to 84 to make them happier and help the immune system, so they could resist the ich parasite better. I read from other folks that it helped. That and the cleaner shrimp really made a difference, and my Hippo tang has been ich free now for 10 months. It used to break out with ich even when I did a small water change.
The UV light is really great however to fight against hair algae. It kills the spores and they don't spread. I read that UV does kill the night swimming critters in the water. I was advised that if I got one to turn it off at night.
