V- Lioness: Can you post pics??

I almost ready to get another lion can you please post pics of your tank? You have been so much help lately, I would really like to see your setup before I add another one to see if I need to add something more to my tank. Or if you prefer you can email me at michelle9491 at charter.net Thanks!,

I am horrible at taking the larger shots......
This is a 300g BB tank, going through changes, it will end up looking like under a pier.... Soon to be added is a blue mirrored background, since a few of my lions are spitters I can not use the blue mirrored acrylic as I originally planned. Since the picture I have also started to add different macro algae to the tank.
The left side of the tank has the rock (about 350 lbs), cove style....

The right side has the poles along with open swimming, there will be a bar coming off the back one.

Looking down the tank, I made sure the lions had room while swimming and so their fins did not get torn I made sure any sharp rock corners faced the back of the tank.

Looking at the whole tank, rock is about 4 feet with 4 foot of open swimming.

I just posted my lion pics here the other day.... https://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=227554
Hope this helps,
Kaye

That is really cool but doesnt all that rock on one side be unbalanced and what are the poles made out of

Thank you, I just got bored with Rock and fish........lol I have not found it unbalanced, my stand was custom made so it is very sturdy with a solid plywood bottom.
The poles are made from PVC & Great Stuff along with Nylon rope, great stuff colors up nicely (browns over time) that is why I chose to use it. It was tough finding poles large enough to fit in the tank, since it is 30 inches high. I am looking to grow the different Macro algae up the poles so they will sway in the water.
It is going to be a theme tank, I am looking for a large anchor and rusty looking chain to fit in.....

Since Great Stuff floats, how did you attach the "pilings" to the bottom of the tank and keep them in place?

I filled them with smaller rocks, since the tank is BB, I wanted to be able to move them when I syphon the bottom to avoid any build up underneath. I originally thought about filling them with concrete but I did not want any build up inside the "pilings"

Kaye how big are your lions
I have five mature Volitans,
One - 14 - 15 inches
One 13 - 14 inches - Just recently pulled and put into my 90g by itself.
Three at around 9 - 10 inches
The one that was recently pulled, started to flash colors (went from orange to solid white), chase and bite at the others, it started to group the lions into one corner. Since Volitans are normally not aggressive towards each other, I am thinking it is possibly a male.
Awesome idea...and...I'm stealing it.
DOH.......

Kaye, sorry it took me so long to respond, my internet has been down. Thanks so much for the pictures!! I have been wanting to add another fish & couldnt decide what kind, but the lions are my favorite. Now that my tank is finally straightned out ( i hope) I am about ready to add something else. But I do want to wait at least a couple more weeks just to be sure. I think my grouper may have gone psycho on me. I found my lobster dead the other morning and 2 of her legs were not attached. I really dont think she died & lost legs, so I am going to continue to watch the grouper before I add anything else. I really love your tank! It looks awesome. Can you give me some ideas for my 125? I just dont want it to be overcrowded, but definately want another lion, even if it cant be a V. All thats in there now is the grouper 11 inches, and my lion about the same size. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks, Michelle

Hey ...... The fin is doing great, The open soar is completely closed now but the lump is still there, not as large as it was. The lion is now back in my display tank. But when I was moving the lion back it jumped out of my container and hit the floor, not like I could catch it......

I am in White Lake but pass through Ann Arbor quite often, we will have to get together on the Macros, I have had some in my 90 for awhile now but my Pinktail wants to make full meals out of a few of the Macros.....
I am going to be adding a 125g - 135g underneath for my refug. and having a new stand built for it. I wanted to drop my bird wrasses & dogface in there......
