Vacuum?

What is the best kind of vacuum to get? how do the ones that attach to the faucet work with saltwater? doesn't the tap water ruin tank chemistry? what about battery operated?
I need to vacuum to keep down my nitrates! CC on the bottom. no LR. Skimmer and w/d going fine.

I use one of the ones that attch to the faucet. Tap water won't affect it unless you refill your tank from the vacuum. The faucet just helps build up the suction effect and then goes directly to the drain. It's hard to explain but basically the high volume of water through small area builds up a low pressure area therefore your 'vacuum' effect. But to answer your original question, I like it, it makes water change more convenient with less mess and you won't contaminate your tank with tap water.

I have one that hooks up to the sink, but the only problem with that is you better mark your tank before hand to know how much water should be taken out before you do the water change. Otherwise you may take out too much, and not have enough RO water ready to go in.
