VHO,HO,NO bulb question

im looking into buying a new tube for my light fixture on my 45, its the standard "perfecto" fixture that came with the tank,
my question is,
can i put VHO, or HO's in the fixture which currently has a 20w bulb?
I am not planning on keeping corals in this tank, It just looks dim, next to my 20g reef lights 155w in the same room....
any suggestions?

You can only replace the bulb with the same wattage rating bulb it came with. You can change colors but not wattage or type. To upgrade from there you will have to upgrade your ballast & fixture too, pretty much all or nothing. If your not wanting to keep corals in there though, it really wont matter, its just cosmetic at this point.
