VHO lighting

I am about to buy a 75 gal. tank with a wooden cap. what is the best way to mount VHO light in the canopy. do i need a fan and holes in the canopy or are they ok w/o them.

You realy don't need a fan with VHO's but if your tank water gets too hot you might want to install a fan.

We just installed the light's directly to the wood canopy. It feels quite warm when you lift the canopy, but we haven't noticed any difference in the water temp. Probably, the heater just runs less when the lights are on.

By the way, we do have plexiglass covers over the openings in the tank. I think the water would be warm up more if you leave your tank open at the top

I have a 180 and 4 VHO, 110 watts, would I be able to have some soft corals without going with the halides? Unfortunately with the acrylic top I have I dont have room to add anymore lights?
