If its a Digital camera thats capable of video then its quite easy. Pop out the memory card connect it to your computer via some usb interface calble and card reader. ( you can hook your camera up directly to the computer but this process takes longer and it wears your cameras battery out.) Once recognized your computer should ask how you want to view the card it just found. If so select open as folder to view files. Then open up the DCIM folder to see the contents of the memory card. If nothing happens right click your start button and scroll down to see your drive letters. The memory card will be designated by saying "Removable Disk E, H, I" one of those depending on how many drives you have. Click on it then double click the folders to the DCIM one double click that and you will see the contents of the card. Create a folder on your desktop and drag and drop all of the contents of the DCIM folder into that folder. If your JVC Program is capable you will have the option to import the mini movie and then convert it to a format of your choice MPEG, AVI, SWF....etc. If not you will need a video converting software. You will be able to see your pictures in raw Jpeg format and you can do what you want with them. A card reader is sold separatly and depinding on your type of memory card prices vary.
If you are using a camcorder the process it different. I have a sony handy cam miniDV tapes and I transfer mine to a HD and then burn DVD's. I then store the tapes in a safe place as an archive.
1st thing is your interface from camera to computer. Check your connecion ports. If its fairly new Cam you should have a fire wire output and adversly you should have a fire wire input on your computer. That method is the best for digital quality. If not USB is your second option its slower and not as good quality. Your imaging program should have a capture feature to recognize your camera when its plugged into the computer and all you need to do is start up the movie and press capture. It takes it all and stores it for editing, then you can burn a DVD when you are done. DVD's typically can take 4 to 6 hrs to burn and even as long as 8. I use Sonic My DVD software suite for all my video editing. Hope this helps.
