So I have noticed a reocurring theme here, how many of you are avid gamers as well as fish-keepers?
If so, which do you have more fun doing? or, are they even comparable?
or, does the need to distract ones-self from other things permeate mediums as differnt as this?
lets get analytical up in here.

For me........the fish tanks are more of a relaxtion part of my life.
While gaming tends to be more of a venting outlet.
You can hunt down and kill folks and not go to jail for it!

Again my opinion.......they are two seperate entities.

I'm not really a hard core gamer at all, but when you come home from a hard day of school i think you would want to play some Grand theft auto and kill everyone and wreck the city. But i truly think a fish tank is more relaxing.....takes the stress away from you.

With a true hobbyist, fish-keeping is "a way of life" and games are just a past-time.
With true gamers, gaming is a way of life, and there is no other passtime because they are obsessed with games and can't waste time or money on anything else.

I play socom 3, and that's it ...I still don't have my first tank which I'm getting soon, I do have a small 2 gallon tank with a little freshwater Groumi, my mom overfeeds him and he is a pig. I tell my mom not to feed him but apparently he always(looks hunugry)
and then she tried hand feeding him and he tried to rip off her fingernail
.

video games will never compare to staring aimlessly at one of my aquariums.
i do enjoy killing people on grand theft auto sometimes though. :notsure:
does that make me crazy? or is it the aimless staring at the tank as my fiance says?
screw it, i'm obviously nuts as witnessed by the money i've thrown at my tank instead of sleazy places. i'd rather look at my tank while my girl snuggles.

You aren't crazy........we all are!!!

Games are away to get the aggession out and tanks are our relaxtion side.

i agree. My tank definately outweights my gaming mode. Gaming for me is just something to do after the hubby goes to bed, and the fish lights are off. Although i have quite a few hobbies. I like to scrapbook, crochet, read, watch tv, watch movies (thanks to that other thread i have about 35 to watch now... grrrrr). So the saltwater tank is my passion, and the other stuff is just to pass the time...

After a really, really bad at work I like to go and play Dark Watch and just slaughter the heck out of things.
Why??
HAve no idea, just feels good!

we take pleasure in other people's pain... and when you get to induce pain on other people (via Dark Watch) without reprocussion, it's the best outlet for all of your aggression that you have built up at work!

I enjoy both... of course they are two completely different types of enjoyment.
Sometimes when I get a new game I often find that my fish tank gets a tad neglected ;)

I like both. But I don't like the hack em up mindless slayer games. I like more strategy and sports (franchise modes only). If I wanted just mindless destruction I could tak an axe or a chainsaw and attack my wood pile.

Its really funny.... but I dunno why I even have a saltwater tank. I only spend like 5 or so hours a week looking at it, while I spend 4 or 5 hours a day playing video games (World of Warcraft mostly)
