Take out that Bio-Wheel...I've heard they become nitrate factories. I have no idea about the Excalibur.

A good way to get clearer water is with a polishing filter such as a diatom which removes unwanted bacteria and debris. I ordered mine from petsmart dot com and that did it for me. But get rid of the bio wheel in favor of a canister system rated for your size tank mine look much better and in combination with a uv sterizer the unwanted algae went away and my reef sand also cleaned up.
