Video of my Naso Tang playing

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this fish but is this a feeding ritual or stricktly boredom and playing with the shell? Is it looking to break open the shell by dropping it and getting some of the sweat food that would be contained in a live shell?

Here's a video (sorry for the quality...low lighting) of her going after one of my hermit crabs. I was filming my coral banded shrimp when this happened.

All of my hermit crabs that use to be out visibly in the tank are hiding. I thought she might be trying to eat them, but I've not experienced any casualties. She seems to be just playing, not really sure though.

If she is playing with them and not eating them just curiosity I guess. Doesn't it make you wonder what, if anything, she is thinking while doing this.
" Dum dee dum, gonna grab me a crab and drop it from on high. Dum dee dum dum, gonna do it again!"

Cool video! My Hippo Tang does this occationally as well. Maybe it's in celebration of Festivus...? The feats of strength...

Interesting behavior.
I have 3 tangs (including a Naso) and I have never seen them do this.

Very cool! I love watching just how much of an interesting personality saltwater fish have.

Thank you! Not at all, but I am very new to saltwater and am learning every day. Most of what I have learned is from this forum and others.
For filtration I have been running a 20 G wet/dry since start up 10 months ago. During the last two months I have gradually removed most of the bio-balls. This week the remaining bio-balls will go and I will be adding a 9 G refugium with Chaeto. I currently run phosban and carbon passively in a filter sock in the return section, but will most likely go to a phosphate reactor soon. I use thick batting from Wal-Mart cut to size for mechanical filtration, which is changed twice a week. I also have lots of flow in the Display tank with 4 Koralia powerheads. Total flow is about 28 X tank volume.
I test weekly for calcium, magnesium, dKh and then of course for nitrates, phosphates, and salinity which is kept at 1.026. 20% water changes every 2 weeks or so. I add calcium and magnesium supplements. And try very hard not to overfeed, but usually fail!
