can i put a Volitan Lion Fish into a non reef 80 gallon tank just by itself

yes but you could add another fish if u like such as an puffer.

That would be perfectly alright. Make sure you have some good "stalking" spots for it though, becuase they seem to enjoy this.

Lions aren't very active swimmers so you should be alright for now. In time the will out grow your tank.
