vodka in tank?

Does putting vodka in your tank really work to lower nitrates and phosphates or is it just a joke?

Its true, but you have to know the EXACT amount needed for your tank. If you overdose vodka, your tank will probably crash.

How much is enough or too much? I cant even figure that out for myself with vodka.

I would like to understand the dosing of vodka also!

Here's a whole article, with instructions for dosing 80 proof vodka. I, personally wouldn't do it.

i have been doing it,the vodka that is since november 08,i had high phosphates,nitrates,my corals lost all colour,and stopped growing,since the vodka my tank is back on track and the levels have come down considerably,i have recently posted pictures,you can be the judge,one word of advice,follow the insrtuctions for dosing to a tee,you cant go wrong.

I don't think vodka has an effect on nitrates, just phosphate.
