Can my grandpa put a volitan lion fish in his 36 gallon tank?
imformation:
no fish in the tank
been set up for a long time
salt and test leavles are fine.
would this be a good idea to have him in the 36 gallon for a few more months until i get my tank set up so he can give it to me because he said once i get my 75 set up ill give him to me.
yes or no...

Voltains grow really, really, big...really, really, fast...
The 75 might be OK for a couple months and then he would need something bigger...
I wouldn't buy one and put it in the 36...

dude, you posted on the agressive forum that you have a 40g? What do you actually have? This is starting to get weird:rolleyes:

How about a fuzzy dwarf lionfish? They are prettier IMO and they stay relatively small. One would do fine in a 36.

Lions in my experience grow faster than any other fish I have seen in the hobby. A 35 and 75 will not be big enough when you are talking a fish that gets 15 inches long and with fins spread close to the same wide. If 75 is the biggest tank you will get then go with one of the smaller lions. A spotfin(antenatta) lion would work very well in that sized tank. Keeps its color much better, looks very similar to, and is an open water swimmer like the volitans, just doesnt get quite as large. Plus it isnt as limiting a factor if you want to get other fish down the line since it is smaller. A Radiata lion is another good choice although that one is just from what I have read not had personally.
