Volitan Lion and Huma Trigger

When I got my 220 it was an established tank with a few fish including a large lion and a huma. Although I had read that they are not compatible it looked like with the size of the tank and the amont of rockwork that they were keeping distance from one another. Over the last few weeks I noticed the lion will charge and snap at the huma if it gets close and now I see pieces of the lions tail and feathers are tore up.
Ansd the lion is not eating as aggresively as before.
The question is if I get rid of the huma (which I would hate to do) will the Lion's fins grow back and will he be ok?
Please help I would hate to lose either.
By the way the tank is in its last week of hypo due to ick if this hase anything to do with the change in behavior.

If the Humu has already started in on the Lion it's only a matter of time before it kills it. I had a 2.5 inch humu in with a 9 inch Volitans and one day the trigger just snapped and tore the lion apart. If you take the trigger out the Lion's fins should heal on their own after a little time. You may want to dose with Melafix to help the healing process along.

So my Huma is coming out of the tank on Tuesday (my salinity should be back up by then) and going to the LFS. Why is it that my 8 1/2"" lion does'nt just eat the 3" huma?

It probably wont fit in the Lion's mouth and the lion knows that so it wont attempt to eat it. My lion once caught the trigger by mistake and swam around with the trigger stuck in his mouth for about 5 minutes before he was able to get it out. It wasnt too long after that that the trigger attacked and tore apart the lion.

triggers are smart little demons and the lion may not be able to catch
him but triggers are extremly hard fair to swallow
they stick out their small dorsal fin and that causes alot of problems
quite a mouthful lol
