Anybody out there have Vonage phone service? Do you like it? I am thinking of trying it because it is WAY cheaper than our local service.

screw vonage, they have you on hold for literaly a half hour everytime you call in. I had a horrible experience with them, they kept blaming my serivce problems on my ISP. Had someone from comcast come out and check the connection, and nothing was wrong, then I got stuck with the service fee. Switched to SBC Call Vantage(similar service) and could not be happier.

We've never had that problem with Vonage. We have had issues with our cable and called in to speak with Vonage, thinking the problem was on their end. It wasn't, it was the cable service, but we got right through to cust. service and had very friendly help.
We love it.

Vonage is awesome! .... you just have to read the terms of service , and if its not acceptable to you , you dont purchase the service .... its that simple.

I had two vonage numbers. One number was for a dedicated fax and the other for my home telephone. I had alot of trouble sending and receiving faxes. Vonage always blamed it on my cable co. My cable co. came out and tested the line and always blamed it on vonage. After nearly a year, I gave up and went back to plain ole bellsouth line. At $21.95 a month for my fax machine (don't need caller id, voice mail, etc. )and nearly 100% reliability there's no way you could convince me Vonage was as good, reading the terms of service or not! I still have Vonage for home phone and that works fine.

Im about to flush Qwest soon, for one of the VOIP services, Qwest has been sneaking more and more of their stupid little fees and taxes in each month. Most of the VOIPs offer the same features for $16 less per month. Called Qwest today, they were not willing to negotiate.

We've had Vonage for about 5 months now. It's....ok. It's cheap, and our bill remains constant, but the quality is kind of sucky. We have quite a bit of problems with it. There are many times when someone cannot hear me when they first pick up the line. Other times, people will complain that they called and we didn't answer when it never even rang here. I've tried the different things they recommend to try to fix it, but nothing works for long. I guess the problems are tolerable for us considering we don't use our land line that much and the price is right.

i dont have vontage, but i do know a thing or two about voip, its just like dsl on a computer, if its fast and you have no lag time your going to love it, but if you live in a area that has to many users dedicated to one connection its going to suck for you, the way to find out if your going to like voip or not is check your internet speed, slow internet speed will mean your going to have crappy voip experence. also keep in mind this technology is only a few years old. it will get better in the near future.

I have Vonage only for home service. Backup - is my mobile phone if cable is down.
The savings are huge - we have a Main line and added a fax line. The Long Distance saving is more than 50 % savings by itself. Not counting the local metered service. Keep in mind, if cable broadband is down, so is the telephone. If you have a mobile phone it's NBD.
7-06 = $30.48
10-06 added fax line= new total $46.27
1-07 The GOV added taxes - new total $48.80 -for two numbers
