Hi
I would like to set up a quarantine tank that I can have set up while I add the next two fish I would like over the next few months....
I have set up a QT in the past to treak Ich, and I have a lot of the equipment I need already....
So, what do i do? HEre is my plan....
1) Set up my 10 gallon QT with all equipment I have (phosban reactor, heater, filter, etc.) by using water from my 24 gallon display tank and a piece of live rock that I will put in there to help with the cycle. My undertanding is that by using water from the DT (and a piece of live rock) and by NOT using live substrate, my QT will cycle quicker than if I used "new" saltwater....
2) Also, I do have a cheapo HOB filter made by Marineland....I think it is like a biowheel or something. In the past, I have added live bacteria to the wheel to get the colonizing going, but that was when I set up the tank in a few hours as an emergency QT (and it was therefore uncycled). I was thinking about getting the subcurrent internal wet dry filter made by current USA and using that rather than my crummy little HOB filter.... Here is the link...

So, what else do I need to do?
Also, I don't really understand what I do with my fish once I get this thing up and going....Do I put the fish in here for a few weeks to make sure that it is eating and healthy? Or, do I want to treat the fish for diseases like Ich even if they are not visible.....
