want to change wet/dry to a hangon

So, I have a 28g nano thats been running for 4 months now

. Recently bought a MH K2 Viper and want to change my wet/dry system to a hangon system just for lighting reasons. Just wondering if I put my Bio balls into a hangon filter is it going to chrash my tank

. Any info would be very helpfull thanks to any and all.

I wouldnt think so your basically doing the same job as the internal filtration system but now its on the outside. I did this with a QT tank I had to set up in an emergency situation. I used 6 gals of my DT water and 4 gals of RO salt water. I had a hang on filter that I took pieces of LR Out of my rear chamber of my cube and put them into the HOB filter on my QT tank. In less than 1/2 hour I was able to get a close to my DT water chem as I could so my sick fish wouldnt get more stressed.
