I've got my SD play sand and will order LS to add to it, and also LR. My fish will move into a garbage can (new & clean) while the changeover is taking place. About the LR, I am thinking that I should probably spend the extra $$ and buy cured so that the tank will cycle faster. How long must the sand be in the tank before I can add the LR? I have found a site for Florida aquaculture rock - do people like this better than the Fiji that is usually advertised? Will a detrivor kit help things speed along? and does that get added with the LS or the LR? I don't want to move too fast, but who wants to live in a garbage can longer than they have to?
tank parameters:
45 gal tall
CPR bac pac skimmer
emperor 400 filter (biowheels removed)
thanks ;)

Did someone tell you that you had to put the sand in first?! You've read here that some ppl will start with a certain amnt of sand at first only to add more later right?! That's what I did....gonna add another 100lbs sand or so in a week.
About the lr: No need to spend alot of $ on "cured" rock....the cheaper uncured will cure while your tank goes through it's cycle anyway!
Hey wait a minute, you're buying rock online. Even though the rock is shipped overnight it will ALWAYS have die off because of the many hours of being out of the tank. So, the lr ppl say "Hey, no cycle for you...it's CURED rock!" Yeah, but not for long! You spend bigger bucks and you have rock that will STILL put your tank through a cycle.
