I am wanting to purchace some new lights for my 55g for xmas. I am currently running a FOWLR. I am not really wanting the lighting for Coral at this time, but possibility of adding some softies, mushrooms and polyps later down the road. I am looking to stay budgeted with this. I have several to choose from what would be best?
48" PC 260W Odyssea $120
48" T5HO 216W Odyssea $115
48" T5HO 216W Marineland $175
What will work best? Like I said it is basically for a brighter tank and Caroline Algae growth, but you and I know that some coral will be added later. Thanks

I would go with the any of the current USA t5 system's.. I've been happy with the sattilite cf 30" in the past, and just currently ordered 48" Nova extreme pro for my 55..(6x54)-$357(including shipping)
From everything I heard about Odyssey lights i'd keep my distance...

OP, stay away from the three you mentioned.. definitely get the aforementioned current usa models..
Either a 6bulb nova extreme pro or a 4bulb sundial (if you're not trying to keep sps.)

I know that the current usa are nice lights, but I am not sure that I want to spend that knid of money for a light. They are on sale for $350. I understand that lighting is expensive and all, but I am not sure that I will house any corals. I have Heniochus Butterfly and think it is risky for adding coral. If I do, it will be down the road nowhere in the near future.
