I am wanting to buy some dwarf seahorses. I have done alot of research on these guys and already have a tank set up and cycled. I am wanting to buy captive bred horses, rather than wild caught, for many reasons. If they are eating mysis that would be perfect, but if they are already eating live brine thats fine. I live in houston tx. I am wanting to buy about 8 of them, I work for fedex, so i get a pretty good shipping discount.
I will be ready to buy them within the next week. I am looking forward to taking care of the little guys!!!

I dont know of anyone that has Dwarfs eating frozen. They only eat bbs. and pods
I wish they would, I would set up a tank for them. Only regular size horses eat frozen.
pm Rynka she is the dwarf expert

I talked to a guy over the phone who feeds his frozen mysis, unless he was lying, trying to get me to buy from him......Thanks for the help, i guess ill finish setting up the bbs hatcheries

Mine have never eaten frozen......they are SO small.......i have however seen them go after the smaller live brine I offer the pipefish but even then it is a challenge for them
How long has your tank been up and running?

It has been running for about a week, it has 3/4 water from my 60 gallon that has been running for a year. And it has 1/4 RO water. I have checked the levels 2 times this week and are all at 0 and where they should be. I changed about half a gallon of the water yesterday.
Its a 5.5 gallon tank.

I have my dwarves in a 10g and it is hard to keep the water clean, I do water changes every 3-4 days. please keep watch as it is a bit more difficult to keep good water quality in the smaller tanks (I started mine out in a 3g & had to do wc's almost every day)

what kind of filter are u using?
Oh and may I suggest an open ended air tube. I have mine slightly under a rock so the bubbles come from 3 directions and my ponies LOVE it!
And if u need some live plants for ur tank lmk and I can send u out a lil starter pack of plants

I have a sponge filter, and also have a hang on filter for a 10 gal. I cant figure out how to work the sponge filter, so i may use the the hang on filter.
I plan on taking a little water out every two days, like half a gallon mabye, to keep it clean.
I have an extra air pump to have bubbles blowing constantly on one side.

Good! Sounds like u r ready for ponies!!!!!

IMO if u can get the sponge filter going too, it wouldnt hurt to run that too. I am going to be adding one to tank soon too. It is hard to keep up with wc's every few days with a baby who never lets you put him down.

It should be next week, i am planning on getting 6 of them. Thank everyone for the advice, i will post pics the minute that i get the box!! haha

Im waiting for my order from them.....is "should" ship Tuesday!!!

I ordered some from another site as well and they arrived yesterday...EVERY male I got is preggers!!!! LOL
I will be setting up the fry tank today b/c i have NOT had luck leaving them in the same tank so my plan is to transfer the males prior to delivery so there is less stress on the fry...i also picked up some micro-food from my lfs so I hope it helps.
Good luck with ur new arrivals and I cant wait to see pics......I will be posting pics of my newbies soon....my baby turns one tomorrow and we have LOTS to do....like get batteries for my camera!!!!
