I have a 6 ft fixture 3 mogul base bulbs and two vho tubes. standard layout with the 2 vho running down the sides one on each side (bulbs have the lil built in reflectors) the mh bulbs are mounted about 2 feet apart down center the fixture is painted a bright white. there is a 3/16 in acrylic sheet that covers entire bottom.
my idea is can i use that real shinny metal flashing like the use for roofing to just put underneeth where the bulbs sits and mold it to the fixture it selfi would cover entire fixture just enough to stick a lil bit past the bulb and as far as width goes and down the sides of the fixture so it its be a roough dome about 10 in width. just replicated for the 3 bulbs.
if this sounds ok. are there expoxys that are heat resistant enough to be used?

Yes that could be done....Remember the reflector has to be kept clean to maximize the output. You should see a little more intensity of light into the tank, but can't say how much. It really isn't totally dependent on the material, because flat material doesn't reflect all light down into the tank.....If you also search around you can find a couple good DIY threads on building some really nice reflectors out there...... I would remove the 3/16" acrylic from under the bulbs as well, since this will cut down light as well and, yes there are good epoxies out there, but not totally sure if they would be resistant at that temp they would be exposed too.....What are you considering epoxing? How close to the lights would it be?
