I add a little bleach on wash cycle then do a rinse cycle, then rinse it by hand. Maybe overkill but I don't take chances with my ricordea.

The hot water and the hot dryer will kill all of it.
the bleach is not a bad thing but rinse it well 2 or 3 times

Where do you BUY filter socks? None of my LFS have them. And ordering them online is.... irritating.

I always washed mine in the tank water as I did a water change so that I didnt kill any pods or bacteria that was growing on the socks. either way works though I just like to have as much bacteria in the tank as possible.

But where do you guys buy em. :)
I guess I am lucky. I get them at the LRS though they cost $14.99 + tax. They are 100micron but really large. I can get 4 overflow drains into one with plenty of room left at the opening. Really don't know where on line. Does SWF have them in dry goods? If not I would be glad to pick a couple up if you pay for them and the shipping. I am sure 2 would fit into a USPS priority package, probably more.
