Water Again (newby question)

I have read alot of information on this page about R/O, Tap, ETC. If I have alot of time on my hands before I completely setup (Still have to get filter system and lights) could I go ahead and use tap or natural spring water from the spring outside of town.

no on useing the tap. it's not just the clorine (sp) in tap water it's all the unkowns and stuff that's added to tap water. Plus, tap water tends to have a problem with algea. I'm not sure about spring water though.
the best water is ro/di. we use water from wal-mart. it's .33 cents a gallon to fill up. It's ro water that goes through a uv.
