Do you know if you have even really started a cycle?? Have your water tested. You're cycle has begun when you get an ammonia spike (otherwise ammonia should always be 0) when its over, your Ammonia and Nitrites will be at 0 and your Nitrates should be relatively low, no higher than 15ppm if at all possible.
I wouldn't worry about starting a cycle until you've added the majority of your LR, otherwise the die off from the LR will just start another cycle.
