Water changes during cycle??

Should I perform water changes during the cycle?

IMO, if you are cycling with live rock, it would be beneficial to change your water if your ammonia goes above 1.0 ppm. That will help keep the beneficial hitchhikers alive, which helps your tank stability in the long run. Of course, if you do this, your cycle will take a little longer, but that patience will pay off.

I agree with monk but I would perform if ammonia spikes above 0.5 just to be even safer and prevent the loss of any critters that may fall in the 0.5-1.0 range.

nope. but i guess for the above reason you can. I'm cycling with my live rock. Cause I have live creatures on it. I'll use some water from the current tank and a piece of raw shrimp.
but i've never done water changes while cycling. (well, I did after we moved a tank and it did a recycle, because I still have inverts in the tank!!! took forever though, but I didn't lose my inverts!)

I should add, that if you are cycling with fish, then yes I would, but wc will delay the cycle! and I don't recommend cycling with fish.
