Water changes

How often should I be doing water changes.
I have been doing a 15-20% water change every other week like everyone here says but I read in the book The New Marine Aquarium by Michael S. Paletta that you should do 5% every other week.
He says here that Other equally successful aquarists have different schedules weekly changes of 5%, biweekly changes of 10%, or even a very small daily water change-in the order of 1.5 -1%, .
Old-school hobbyists often practiced large water changes of 25-30% but these tend to be maore stressful onj the livestock and are not recommended for typical marine aquariums except in emergencies or major rescue efforts.
If you would like me to continue to type what he says just tell me and I will.

In my case I like to do weekly water changes in my tanks. I feel it keeps them looking good and give the fish the best water quality. In my 135 I do 10 Gals; 120 10 Gals; 58's 5 gal; 65 every other week 5 gals : 45 5 gals; 20'2 and 15 about 3 gals; 46 every other week 5 gals. This has been my regimen for the last 4 years and it seems to work well.

Both of my 55's get 5 gal every other week.....this weekend it'll be the 55 fowlr/ls...next weekend the reef.....seems that 5 gal is enough to freshen things up a bit......chemistry stays stable...I think the important thing is to maintain a schedule that replenshes without causeing stress......
