Might sound crazy, but if your water parameters are fine, all live stock doing great and u are adding supplements (cal,iodine,alk,ect...)would u have to do water changes?? Just wondering cause i'm on 6 weeks without one now, not being lazy, but wanted to experiment. Everthing is doing fantastic. coraline growing nicely. Thanks for the input. :p

Thats a highly debated subject, I have questioned it myself, but Im still under the believe that water changes are very important when it comes to dillution, its said that certain things that are added to the tank that are not taken up by procceses in the tank and can eventually build up to toxic levels. I wont say that this applys to all tanks, some mature systems using Ca reactors, large skimmers, ect. seem more able to deal with less H20 changes, than some systems that will go south if regular H20 changes are not performed, i.e. algae blooms, along with elevated traces of PO4 and nitrates. I agree that the main reason for water changes is to dilute the unwanted nutrients.
Back in the good old days the systems did not have the technology available most have today and regular water changes were a must.
I believe water changes are still a good idea but may not be needed as much as they once were.
