Water Changes

I faithfully did a 25% water change every four weeks when I had CC in my tank. It was easy to tell when it was needed because algea would start to build up and diatoms appeared in the bottom. Since I changed to DSB 5"+about four months ago, the tank has been so crystal clear, and the fish have done so well that I have only done one water change. Should I disregard how well my tank is doing and do a water change?

Nope. Just keep doing what you are doing. No need to mess with what works.
