Water clarity

I wanted to know if any one could help me get my water clear. From a distance it looks clear bit get up on the tank and it looks like i stirred up the sand. I have no explanation. I have a prefilter in the overflow and on the drip tray in the wet dry.

How old is the tank? What is in the tank?

The tank has been up for 9 months. I am running carbon. Ny skimmer has only been on hte tank for 2 days. I have had the cloudy water for a long time.

when was the last time you replaced your carbon?

Give your skimmer time to break in... usually takes about a week or so...has it been pulling out any gunk? If it is the first time you have run a skimmer then two days isn't enough time IMO to judge the effectiveness of it... after a week of running my skimmer I woke up one morning and a cloudy tank was just a fading memory
You said it looked like you stirred up the sand... could it be micro-bubbles from the skimmer output? may want to check that out it happened to me.

No it is not micro-bubbles. The water just a cloudy or milky apperance. I change my carbon every three weeks. The skimmer is pulling tons of stuff from the water. I did a 8gal water change yesterday and it looks great now. But in the past it comes back after a week. I will give the skimmer time to work and hope that is it.
