How much is considered too much? I swear in the past week ive topped off my wet/dry with 2 gallons of RO water. Is this normal during a cycle? Im starting to get a big time diatom bloom for the past 5 days. Glass, sand, overflow box, rocks. I still havent seen any hitchhikers yet. I think ill do the red flashlight thing tonight and see if i can find any. :happy:

2 gallons a week is normal. i have 4- 48"VHO's and i add about 2 gallons a week :happy:

You know I didnt even think of that. It has increased since i started to run all my lighting 8 hours a day. Thanks WHO DEY

I loose about a gallon a day on my 55 with powercompacts. Its ran open top so that is also the culprit I am gonna get some tops for it just dont know what ones either glass or plexi.

I loose about 1g per-day on my 55g and about 2g per-day on my 110g. Do you have glass tops on the tank?? If so, I would remove them.

No glass top. Just the light and i used the front cover from the light the tank cam with. Should i keep that off? I put it on there just in case my cat tried something stupid

I have metal halide pendants and don't use a canopy at all on my 55 gallon and I have to topoff a gallon per day.
