Water flow and lights causes it I believe. I loose about 3/4-1 gallon a day in my 55.

with my 55gal I lose about the same. I just fill my sump up to a certain point. I keep a 5gallon water jug filled up.I top off 1gal a day. Every 3 days I top off with 1gal of Kalkwasher.
