Water Flow And Feeding

I have an 85 gallon tank with 2 Aquaclear 70 powerheads. Yesterday I added some green chromis which are my first fish. When I fed them this morning before they even noticed the food the powerheads blew it all over the tank.
Should I be turning off the power heads during feeding. It's a pretty strong current.

it might make it easier for them, but when they get accustomed to you feeding them and the type of food (if it is differnt), they will be able to chase it down. A company called Hydor makes rotating reflecters that can fit on the ends of those power heads, it can vary water curent and prevent that straight static blow wich can cause dead spots in the tank. Their cheap, effective, and use the water current to power them, so there are no more plugs.
