water for water changes

What kind of water is best to use for water changes. i know not tap. i have heard distilled, and something about RO water. what exactly is RO water? do you buy it from somewhere? thanks for the help.

You can definitely use tap if you do testing on it first. I use tap and never have algae blooms. RO water is reverse osmosis water, and you can buy it from some places, but you are better off to get your own unit you can hook up to a faucet. If you have big tanks you better get a big one :)

If your tank is 55gal or less, I recommend the Jack Watley's Tap Water Purifier.
If its large then you should invest in a RO/DI unit.
