40 Gallon bowfront
Nitrate: 40ppm
Phos: 0
KH: 13
If it matters, I have live sand, one decent size live rock and fish as follows:
Saddleback clown
Firefish
yellowtai Damsel
Royal Gramma
Got a few little red legged crabs
and 2 snails
Just checking on the numbers, not sure the Nitrate level is high or not for this at 40?? The tank is just over a month old now.

Nitrate at 40ppm is no problem at all for a fish-only tank. IMO&IME, that isn't even in the "high" range.

40ppm is not high for a fish only tank, but looking at the fish you have, they're not messy fish. I think it's important to understand why your nitrates are at 40. Do you over feed? Do you have enough flow? Type of filtration? So 40 is not dangerous to your fish but you don't want that number to get out of control.

Not a problem to the fish but will help to feed any algae in your tank.
Flower he may not want more rock for the tank, however if you are saying he may need more filtering capacity I would agree with that. A fuge, a skimmer, more water changes, if he really wants to get the nitrates down. Agree with -- here though, where are the nitrates coming from.
