What's a good calcium level for a tank that has mostly zoas and softies, but I've got some sps and I just got a monti cap. My calcium was 480 and my alk was 3. Are these good levels or is the cal too high?
Also, I don't really have very much purple corraline algae. I believe I have a lot of green corraline, although I don't really know what green looks like cause I've never seen it before yet heard it does exist in that color.

Those are both really good numbers. I'm surprised you don't have purple coraline though. How long has everything been up and running?

It's 3 meq/L. It's been up for about six months or so now. Yeah, I don't know why there isn't a lot of corraline.

I use a product by Marc Weiss called Coral Boost. I know some people on this for don't care for his products, but it did promote coraline growth in my tank. Plus its all natural products.

Go to archives and print off Calcium and Alkalinity Chart by Reefnut!!!!!!!
Then try to keep levels balanced with the numbers stated. Has worked wonderfully for me.
3 ml equiv / ltr = 420 calcium so at a Ca of 480 you need to raise your alk.
