Water Pressure for RO unit - Do I have enough?

How can I tell if I have enough water pressure for an RO unit? They make ones with pumps in case your town does not have enough pressure, but how do you know? Can I call my town? Is there a pressure meter I can buy?

what i did was i bought one and i tried one with out a pump and it worked fine. but if not i could have bought a pump for it.

You can purchase pressure gauges at Lowes, HD and such pretty cheap to see what your water pressure is, and your pressure could vary throughout the day as well......60psi it optimium, but 40 will work just not as efficient.....You could use booster pump to increase your pressure if you choose too.

Thanks! Looked on-line at HD's site and found it for around $10. Now will just cross my fingers to see if I have what I need!

Here is a picture of my unit. You will notice the pressure gauge prior to it entering the unit. I had 40psi which works but produces more waste water then clean water. I bought a pressure pump and got my unit up to 90psi

I called HD, they said they had 4 'in-stock' but when they went to actually look for them they could not find them. I called my town, they said typical water pressure is between 60 & 85 PSI. I am going to take my chances and see what happens!

You can find the gauges anywhere that deals with plumbing.....Either way once you get the unit, and hook it up it will read the pressure of the unit.....if it's low you can look at getting a booster pump.
