About 9 years ago my wife joined up to be a dealer of a product called Alpine. I guess they manufactured and sold air and water purifiers. My wife joined to be a dealer meaning that she had to pay like $3000.00 to get the dealer package which included I guess about 6 of the air purifier systems and I think 4 of the water purifiers systems. She sold some to family and friends. I think she may have broke even after about two or three years.
I have never really let her live that down. I keep telling her how I could have invested that money into the stock market.
Any way we have one of the water purifiers left. Actually a new and a used one I'm not really sure of the models but they are from 1998.
I was looking for a RO solution. I think I may have found it by using the water purifies that she has left over.
I have been using one for about almost 30 days. Water is absolutely crystal clear. Levels are always perfect with the exception of the Nitrates. Just can't seem to get those perfect anyway.
Tank seems to be thriving. I was just trying to figure out how I coud make the colors in aquarium come out more and I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that everything is is taking off. (Aside of purchasig more expensive lights which I'm looking into).
I have a blue hippo tang that has had an ICH problem since the day I got him which was about three months ago. I had to take him out dip and treat and quarantine him and yet he still seemed to have some symptoms or mild signs of the parasite. Since I started using the purified water he has been doing extremely well. No signs of the parasite at all and his colors are amazing.
Just wanted to share that story because there may be other new hobbyist that are looking for an inexpensive water solution. During that time I think it was a craze to have those water purifiers, so some people like myself may have the solution staring them right in the face and not even know it. If you were one of those millions of people that went out and purchased one of those things. Well at least it was in the garage anyway not actually staring me in the face.
Here is a picutre of one that I found online . Just like the ones we have. It has some type of special filter and then when it comes on there is a UV light that the water passes around. Not to sure what I'm going to do when it is time to replace that filter since it is a older moldel. I think they may still be in business but would probably have to purchase a new type of purifier that is expensive. Takes about 15 or 20 minutes to fil up five gallons.
