All,
I have a 90 gallon with a twenty gallon sump and 100 lbs of live rock. I run a bakpack skimmer, uv system, and use rodi [water.
In terms of livestock Ihave 2 firefish, four in yellow tang, a four inch hippo tang, a coral beauty, two two inch clowns and a couple of turbo snails and a pepper mint shrimp. I also have a couple of clumps of zoas.
I'm having problems with red algae and high nitrate levels. I use an aquarium pharma kit, and while nitrite, PH, and ammonia are great, my nitrate is consistently in the 120+ range. Any suggestions for reducing my nitrate would be helpful. I have a euroreef 250 that needs a new pump. Would installing that in my sump be the best way to go to help in the long term? I do light sugar dosing (.25 teaspoons a day), which does help and reduced my.
nitrates from 180+.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
PS. The tank is about six months old.
